DeSantis Administration Issues Unflinching Response to Suspended District attorney’s ‘Lawfully Ungrounded’ Claim

This prosecutor appears to think “cost-free speech” means “talk is affordable.”

The elected state attorney who was put on hold by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in early August for openly proclaiming he would decline to apply any kind of regulations banning abortion filed a claim against DeSantis on Wednesday, demanding reinstatement to the task.

Yet DeSantis’ workplace isn’t backing down a little bit.

Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren revealed the suit in a news conference in Tallahassee, according to The Associated Press.

“If the guv’s permitted to do this, what remains of freedom?” Warren asked, according to the AP. “If the governor’s permitted to retaliate versus me for speaking out, what remains of the First Amendment?”

He also made the instance in a whiny Twitter video that appeared to double as a campaign ad for some future political run:

Taryn Fenske, director of communications in the governor’s office, was unmoved by the information.

“It’s not unusual Warren, who was put on hold for rejecting to adhere to the legislation, would file a legally unjustified suit testing his suspension,” Fenske stated in a statement, according to Fox Information.

“We anticipate responding in court.”

Simply put: Bring it.

A Democrat– obviously– Warren claimed Republican DeSantis had exceeded his authority by putting on hold Warren for including his signature to a statement authorized by prosecutors from around the nation openly declaring they would not follow their state regulations pertaining to abortion restrictions.

The statement was difficult to misunderstand– as well as DeSantis didn’t.

Issued June 24, in the prompt after-effects of the High court’s choice rescinding Roe v. Wade and returning the power to control abortion to the states, it started by specifying that state regulations on the topic are inherently illegitimate, proclaiming that “we can not wait and also enable members of our neighborhood to live in worry of the ramifications of this deeply troubling choice.”
