The morale of the Russian army has been steadily spiraling the proverbial drain from the moment that they were first duped into invading Ukraine, reaching an abysmal low in recent weeks as Ukrainian forces continue to decimate their ranks.
In fact, a number of near-mutinies have been reported in the media, with Kremlin troops suggesting not only that their commanding officers were completely devoid of any real strategic prowess, but also that Putin himself could be toppled upon their return to Russia.
Now, in what appears to be a pathetic and desperate attempt at keeping morale from cratering further, Moscow is sending musicians to the front lines.
Russia says it will deploy musicians and singers to the front lines of its war in Ukraine to boost troops’ morale.
The defence ministry announced the formation of the “front-line creative brigade” this week, saying it would also include circus performers.

Meanwhile, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu visited frontline troops in Ukraine, Moscow said.

But even this claim appears dubious.
The ministry added that he “spoke with troops on the front line” and at a “command post” – but the BBC cannot confirm when the visit took place or whether Mr Shoigu visited Ukraine itself.
Commenting on Mr Shoigu’s reported visit, Ukraine’s military spokesman Serhiy Cherevatyi told Ukrainian TV channels: “I don’t really believe that he is so brave” to travel to the battlefield.
Given what we already know about Russia’s failures in Ukraine, perhaps they should just be sending the fat lady to sing.
