Email From Lobbying Firm with Ties to Mitch McConnell Organized Phone Call with Rep. Don Bacon on Eve of Speaker Vote

On Monday evening, a lobbying firm with ties to Senator Mitch McConnell organized a phone call at 8PM ET with Representative Don Bacon (R-NE) in an effort to persuade him to vote in favor of Jim Jordan for House Speaker.

Chairman Jordan needs 217 votes on Tuesday for the speakership, yet 8 RINO holdouts have been refusing to support the congressman.

These representatives include: Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Frank Lucas (R-OK), John Rutherford (R-FL), Mike Simpson (R-ID), Steve Womack (R-AR), and Ken Buck (R-CO).

Rep. Bacon remained resolute on Monday evening and expressed his disapproval of the Republican lawmakers who had removed McCarthy from office.

According to an email that was made public, a lobbying firm affiliated with Senator Mitch McConnell was scheduled to participate in a teleconference with Representative Don Bacon on Monday evening.

An email from No Labels was leaked on Monday afternoon, just before the floor vote for Jim Jordan scheduled for Tuesday.

In response to this, No Labels was organizing a phone call with Rep. Bacon.

Congressman Bacon announced that he will be casting his vote against Representative Jim Jordan on Tuesday.
