State Rep. Meisha Mainor has made a brave decision – ditching the Democrat Party and joining the Republicans, setting an example for others to follow suit.
As she explains it, this was a moral move rather than one driven by politics. Mainor’s defection comes two months after she warned that the “Democrat Party Establishment is looking to take me out.”
The Republican party stands to benefit greatly from Mainor’s move as it shifts the balance of power in the Georgia State House to 102-78 in favor of Team Red.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Mainor revealed why she chose to abandon her former party despite their long history of support from black Americans: mistreatment when standing up for children’s education opportunities and refusal to back her when opposing efforts to defund police forces.
Mainor expressed that Democrats didn’t stand by her when she advocated for school choice or refused to defund police forces – instead they abandoned her.
She also noted how the party has been ‘using and abusing’ black communities for decades without any tangible results that reflect their support base in turn.
When asked about possible pushback from Democrats following her decision, Mainor made a bold statement: “The most dangerous thing to the Democrat Party is a black person with a mind of their own,” suggesting something more sinister beneath surface-level political drama over her defection.
It appears this move had been coming since May when Meisha posted a warning on social media claiming she was “in the crosshairs” of Democratic colleagues due to her beliefs which didn’t align with those of the party establishment.
Mainor also explained Democrats abandoned her when she opposed their efforts to defund the police and cited this as an example of how the party has abused the black community for decades.
When I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me. They crucified me.
When I decided to stand up in support of safe communities and refused to support efforts to defund the police, they didn’t back me. They abandoned me.
For far too long, the Democrat Party has gotten away with using and abusing the black community. For decades, the Democrat Party has received the support of more than 90% of the black community.
And what do we have to show for…
