When it comes to fishing, some stories are always going to be a bit unbelievable. This is fairly well the nature of the hobby, which is a sort of amalgam between bragging rights, Zen Buddhism, and hunting.
In fact, most anglers can tell you without hesitation which one of their buddies is the the most likely to exaggerate the success that they’ve had out on the water at any particular time.
But for one British fisherman, he has proof of his astounding catch: The infamous 67-pound carp nicknamed “The Carrot”.
While fishing in France, a British man caught a monster-size carp nicknamed “the Carrot,” which weighed nearly 70 pounds.
Andy Hackett, 42, made the find while fishing Bluewater Lakes in Champagne, France. The 20-year-old female carp weighed 67.5 pounds.

The fished is prized by anglers because of her coloration, as most giant carp are pale or brownish, USA Today reported.
“I knew it was a big fish when it took my bait and went off side to side and up and down with it,” Hackett told the Daily Mail. “Then it came to the surface 30 or 40 yards out, and I saw that it was orange.”
Hackett was a bit humble about the whole thing.
“It was brilliant to catch it, but it was also sheer luck,” he added.
The Carrot is a rather well-known fish to locals, who’ve caught him nearly 10 times during previous fishing seasons.
Photos of the enormous catch can be seen below:
A fisherman from the U.K. caught a massive carp that looked like an irregularly sized goldfish in a lake in France earlier this month. The bright orange fish weighed in at 67.4 lbs and was appropriately named The Carrot. https://t.co/UCHVpy1eT4
