Skittles Announces New Flavor That No One Asked For

In a recent unexpected turn of events, French’s, a well-known mustard brand, has introduced an exclusive edition of mustard-flavored Skittles, a product nobody seemed to have been asking for.

Allow that to sink in for a moment…

This is just the newest entry in the long-standing tradition of concocting bizarre food combinations as a publicity stunt (I recognize the irony of drawing attention to it, but let’s overlook that for now). While I’m generally not a fan of such endeavors, I can’t deny a certain curiosity.

McCormick, the company that owns French’s, joined forces with the confectionery behemoth Mars — the maker of Skittles — to launch these special edition Skittles. The peculiar product has been released to commemorate National Mustard Day on August 5.

“This National Mustard Day, we’ve created a confectionary classic that lives at the intersection of condiment and candy: Mustard SKITTLES®,” their website says.

“We’ve added our own flavorful shade of yellow to this fun-sized staple, crafting a sweet and savory treat that’s sure to tang up your taste buds.”

While I am admittedly a mustard guy, I’m not anxious to give mustard Skittles a try.
