Some of the world’s biggest tech companies have found themselves in varying states of disarray in recent weeks, with none more alarmingly so than Twitter.
This has led to a number of rants and revelations from new owner Elon Musk, who has been concerned with the company’s lack of profitability and its past censorship issues. His new “free speech” approach has irked some other tech companies, including Apple, who’ve apparently threatened Musk with removing Twitter from the App Store.
Now, the CEO of Spotify is chiming in and suggesting that they’ve experienced similar bullying from Apple.
In a lengthy thread posted to Twitter on Wednesday, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek wrote: “As countless entrepreneurs have highlighted, Apple is shameless in their bullying including our recent efforts to help authors sell more audiobooks.”

“Apple acts in self interest but also doesn’t seem to care about the law or courts,” Ek continued, adding: “How much longer will we look away from this threat to the future of the internet? How many more consumers will be denied choice? There’s been a lot of talk. Talk is helpful but we need action.”
This isn’t the first time that Apple and Spotify haven’t seen eye-to-eye.
In October, Spotify’s addition of audio books triggered trouble with the App Store owners, with the app itself being rejected three times by Apple.
