Teamsters President Goes Scorched Earth on the Democratic Party

Teamsters President Sean O’Brien recently slammed the Democratic Party, blaming them for losing the union’s support.

“I’m a Democrat, but they have f—ed us over for the last 40 years,” O’Brien told comedian Theo Von on his podcast “This Past Weekend.” He added, “We’re finally standing up and asking, ‘what the f— have you done for us?'”

For the first time in decades, the Teamsters didn’t endorse a presidential candidate for 2024. Internal polls showed 59.6% of members supporting Donald Trump, with only 34% backing Kamala Harris.

O’Brien admitted he’s being “attacked from the left” for the decision. But he revealed that in his two-and-a-half years as president, the union gave $15.7 million to Democrats and just $340,000 to the GOP.

“People say the Democratic Party is the party of the working people – they’re bought and paid for by Big Tech,” O’Brien said. “Republicans now have a shot at being the working-class party, and they should take it.”

In July, O’Brien became the first Teamsters president to speak at a Republican National Convention, causing friction within the union. Democrats didn’t invite him to their summer convention in Chicago.

“If 60% of our members aren’t supporting you, the system is broken,” O’Brien said. “Stop pointing fingers at me and the union. Look in the mirror.”
