Elon Musk certainly loves to be in the international spotlight.
From designing one of the world’s most ubiquitous electric cars, (and daring the rest of the industry to follow him), to launching rockets and building flamethrowers, Musk’s persona sometimes appears larger than his impact.
But now, the eccentric billionaire is truing to make peace between Russia and Ukraine…and his suggestions are not going over well with the leaders in Kyiv.
Musk suggested that recent referendums held by Russia on whether to annex four regions of Ukraine, including the Donbas—which have been dismissed by the West as a sham, rigged election—should be redone under the supervision of the United Nations and that Russia should leave Ukraine “if that is will of the people.”
His full tweet had some rather bold suggestions:
Trending:
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

The tweet earned a profane response from Ukraine.
krainian diplomat Andrij Melnyk had a pointed response to Elon Musk after the billionaire made a peace proposal for Ukraine and Russia on Monday to end the seven-month war.
Melnyk, who serves as Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, hit back at the proposal in a tweet.
“F**k off is my very diplomatic reply to you @elonmusk,” Melnyk tweeted.
Ukraine appears to holding their own against the invading Russians, with some leaders even going so far as to suggest that their successes could put formerly annexed Crimea back into play.
