The desperation that Vladimir Putin has exuded over the course of the last several months has been extraordinary. This is a man who often attempted to portray himself as a sort of hip villain, who, we all believed, was backed by one of the most extraordinary military forces in the world.
After 8 months in Ukraine, we know better.
This has led the Moscow madman to begin suggesting that a nuclear strike could be coming – something that would surely get the rest of the world involved in his Ukrainian invasion.
Putin has even suggested that he’s “not bluffing”…but it doesn’t appear as though US President Joe Biden believes him.
President Joe Biden continued to explain and modify his warning about nuclear “Armageddon” from Russia, a stark suggestion about the potential for escalation in Russia’s war against Ukraine he made last week.
Trending:
The most recent remarks came in a wide-ranging interview with CNN host Jake Tapper, which aired Tuesday and covered both domestic and international issues.
Asked by Tapper whether he thought Putin would actually use nuclear weapons, Biden said, “I don’t think he will. But I think that it’s irresponsible for him to talk about it.”
And then…
The threat of a nuclear weapon could lead, Biden said, “to just a horrible outcome. And not because anybody intends to turn it into a world war or anything, but … the mistakes that can be made, the miscalculations, who knows what would happen?”
Putin has begun to mobilize a number of his nuclear assets in recent days, but there’s no telling whether or not this is just another form of the Kremlin’s nuclear brinkmanship.
