Russia in Retreat as Ukraine’s Counteroffensive Proves Effective ⋆ BOOM! ⋆ Flag And Cross

For weeks, the Ukrainian military has been working the angles, setting themselves up for a massive counteroffensive that they believed could turn the tide of their war with Russia.

The Kremlin had sent troops in hot and heavy back in February, believing at one point that they might topple the sovereign nation wholesale within 72 hours.  This, obviously, has not been the case, and the courage and determination of the Ukrainian army has been an enormous part of their success.

Now, after some careful preliminary work, Ukraine is launching a counteroffensive that has Russian forces on their heels.

Ukrainian forces have broken through Russia’s front lines in the east, retaking strategic towns and territory in a surprise counteroffensive that began just days ago.

Ukrainian officials claim to have recaptured some 270 square miles and the key towns of Izium, Balakliya and Kupiansk — all of which have been controlled by Russian forces for months.

In a video posted to Telegram, Oleh Syniehubov, head of Kharkiv regional military administration, records from Balakliya, showing the Ukrainian flag raised behind him. It is one of multiple social media posts purportedly of photos and videos of recently liberated Ukrainians celebrating the recent gains.

The Ukrainian invasion has been an abject failure for Moscow, exposing Russia’s military weakness to the world in an undeniable way.

This counteroffensive’s effectiveness is just the latest in a long line of embarrassments for Vladimir Putin, and given the mass number of recent desertions by Russian troops, there is plenty more trouble coming for Moscow in the near future.
