As we begin to look between the lines of the 2022 midterm elections, (and cynically at the way the media is attempting to spin it), we are beginning to see the first slivers of lights piercing the spaces between the Republican Party and Donald Trump.
Sure, there are still a vast number of MAGA stalwarts deeply embedded within the GOP, but those who were on the fence about Trump before are starting to lean to the side he’s not on, and doing so rather boldly.
…Even those who received his endorsement before.
Virginia’s Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin responded to former President Donald Trump’s political attack, saying he “works hard to bring people together.”
“I didn’t see it… You all know me. I do not call people names. I really work hard to bring people together, and that’s what we’re working on here,” Youngkin said about the former president’s message on social media: “Young Kin (now that’s an interesting take. Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me.”

After receiving pushback from a reporter saying Trump was calling the governor names, Youngkin added, “And that’s what I’m saying. That’s not the way I roll and not the way I behave. … This is a moment for us to come together…”
Trump had targeted Youngkin, as well as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this week, likely on account of the rumors that both could be seeking the 2024 Republican nomination.
